Ornate Rhialto doorway opening into an imagined world

Why Rhialto Exists

Rhialto began as a place to turn too many ideas into something real—music, stories, artists and worlds that could or should have been.

Rhialto News

Rhialto exists because I have never been very good at having one idea at a time.

A song turns into an artist. A lyric suggests a story. An image suggests a world. A piece of history becomes a chorus. A strange musical experiment becomes something worth building an entire visual identity around. The projects keep crossing into one another.

Rhialto is the place where I decided to let that happen.

More Than a Music Project

Music is the most visible part of Rhialto right now, but it was never meant to be the whole thing. The catalogue has grown around distinct artist personas such as Vesper Mourdant, Lux Arden, Orpheus Shade, Mercy Road and Brillira. Each gives me a different creative lens rather than forcing every idea into the same voice.

That freedom matters. A gothic electronic song should not have to behave like dark country. A maritime tragedy ballad should not sound like surreal art pop. Some ideas belong in music; others belong in fiction, visual art or worldbuilding.

The point is not to make everything the same. The point is to give all of it a home.

Worlds That Could or Should Have Been

The line that best describes what I am trying to do is simple: I write about worlds that could or should have been.

Sometimes that means a literal imagined world. Sometimes it is a historical moment viewed from a different angle. Sometimes it is a character who feels as though she has walked in from a place just slightly stranger than ours. And sometimes a complete world only needs four minutes and a chorus.

That is why music and stories belong beside one another here. They are different ways of opening the same kind of door.

Where AI Fits

AI is part of the Rhialto process, and I have no interest in pretending otherwise.

I use it as a creative tool: to explore ideas, test arrangements, develop visual concepts, organize projects, research possibilities and move more quickly from an idea to something I can evaluate. It can produce surprising material. It can also produce bland material, wrong answers and spectacular dead ends.

The useful part is not pressing a button. The useful part is deciding what deserves to survive.

I choose the concepts, change the direction, rewrite, reject, combine, argue with the result and keep refining until something feels like Rhialto. That process—and the places where it succeeds or fails—is something I expect to write about here.

Why Start a Blog?

Social platforms are good at showing finished fragments: a song, a Short, an image, an announcement. They are not particularly good at preserving the thinking behind them.

This blog gives me somewhere to keep the longer version.

I want to write about how songs change while they are being built, why certain artist personas develop in unexpected directions, how visual worlds evolve, what I learn from audience response, which experiments work, which ones fail, and where the next idea came from.

It will also give me a place to connect projects that may look unrelated when they appear separately on YouTube, Spotify or a social feed.

What You Will Find Here

  • Behind-the-scenes notes on new music and videos.
  • The development of Rhialto's artists, stories and imagined worlds.
  • Experiments with AI-assisted music, images and creative tools.
  • Lessons from things that worked—and things that clearly did not.
  • New ideas before they become finished projects.

Not every post needs to be a formal essay. Some may be short notes from the middle of a project. Others may dig into a subject in considerably more detail.

The Door Is Open

Rhialto is still young, and that is part of what makes this an interesting time to start writing about it. The catalogue is growing, the artists are becoming more distinct, the story worlds are taking shape, and I am still discovering what belongs here.

If you arrived because of one song, welcome. If you want to see where all the other doors lead, even better.

You can explore the current work through Music, meet the Artists, enter the Stories & Worlds, or find Rhialto on other platforms through Connect.

This is the beginning of the blog, but not the beginning of the experiment.
